Although the iPhone doesn’t support the Flash Player, Tuner2 Hi-Fi Radio is an interesting iPhone application with support for Flash Media Server based audio streaming (RTMP with AAC+).
The development company Modulation Index has an interesting summary on their weblog, explaining the reasons and benefits why they added support. It’s worth a read and defines as reasons the better quality & reliability, the economy of scale and the interactivity.
Adobe recently published the RTMP specs allowing third parties to support Flash streaming in applications outside of the Flash Player. This is a great example of multi-screen support for Flash Media Server based streaming – a single stream targeting the web (Flash Player), the desktop (AIR), mobile devices (Flash Lite 3.1) and the iPhone.
