I remember first seeing the Samsung Galaxy S II commercial “The Way We’re Wired” and I was surprised about the depth of the message, and the very emotional, almost revolutionary theme. Until I read about Apple’s “The Crazy Ones”, which was the original commercial that revived Apple.
“The Crazy Ones” was originally aired with a professional speaker, while this version is the alternative unaired version with Steve Jobs.
You can argue that the Samsung’s ad theme is to aspire to be number one, while Apple’s ad was more about revolution – but they surely sound very similar. How about a series of commercials that make fun of your nerdy competitor, while appearing trendy and cool?
Similar. But then again, competition has always been good.
If the ad is indeed very similar to the ones Apple released a long time ago, who will be held liable? Is it Samsung(who has the final say over things) or is it the agency that produced it?
